A 1988 floodplain delineation study identified an area in Gilbert where overtopping of the Eastern Canal and flooding could potentially occur. In order to provide 100-year flood protection to the area, a basin was constructed near the intersection of the Eastern Canal and Southern Pacific Railroad (north of Greenfield Road and Ray Road) in Gilbert. The basin serves as a Town of Gilbert park. In accordance with the IGA, the District was the project lead and a 50% cost share partner.Owner and Maintenance: Town of Gilbert
