To mitigate historical flooding to areas in Glendale, Peoria and unincorporated Maricopa County, a 10-year storm drain system was constructed along Cactus Road between 67th Avenue and the Agua Fria Freeway (SR-101L). The freeway’s drainage system serves as the outfall for the project. An IGA between the District and the cities of Glendale and Peoria established overall cost share guidance for the implementation of the storm drain components of the project, with Glendale and Peoria each contributing 25% to overall costs, and the District contributing the remaining 50%. Glendale and Peoria accepted operation and maintenance of completed project components within their jurisdictions, and the District acted as overall lead agency for the project.Owner and Maintenance: City of Glendale, City of Peoria.
