Sunset Flood Retarding Structure (FRS) is an earthen dam that collects stormwater from Sunset Wash and conveys it to the Hassayampa River via the 30-inch Sunset/Sunnycove Pipeline. The structure is 488 linear feet in length with a height of 30.5 feet and a storage capacity of 55 acre-feet. The emergency spillway is a 40-foot-wide concrete weir located near the center of the dam. The dam was constructed with sponsorship from the U.S. Soil Conservation Service, now the Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS). The District and the U.S. Soil Conservation Service were cost share partners on this project.Operation and Maintenance: Flood Control District
