The Rittenhouse Road Drain project was recommended by the District's Queen Creek Area Drainage Master Study in 1990 to mitigate historical flooding problems. The project consists of an earthen channel adjacent to the Southern Pacific Railroad between the East Maricopa Floodway and Queen Creek School and provides 100-year flood protection to the school. The channel also reduced the floodplain on the north side of the Southern Pacific Railroad. The District was the lead agency for project construction and is responsible for the operation and maintenance.Owner and Maintenance: District
