Project Contact: Richard Harris
Region: NE
District: 2 - Steve Chucri
Description:

The purpose of this project is to perform a detailed floodplain/floodway study for Willow Springs Wash and its tributaries within the Town of Cave Creek. Phase I of the study will provide a detailed hydrologic analysis of the watershed, and delineate floodplains and floodways for Willow Springs Wash and a number of its tributaries. Phase II of the study will utilize the hydrologic analysis of Phase I, and extend the study upstream for both the Willow Springs Wash floodplain and Willow Springs Wash Tributary 4. The study results will include updated floodplains and floodways.

The studies will use detailed topographic mapping and updated rainfall data to re-evaluate the extent of floodprone areas along these watercourses. The results of Phase II will be sent to the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) for a Letter of Map Revision (LOMR) request in the summer of 2013.

Status:

Phase II of the study is now underway, including the data collection phase and preliminary floodplain delineations. Persons interested in learning more project details may contact the District's project manager, Richard P. Harris, P.E., CFM, at (602) 506-4528.
