Phase: Floodplain Delineation
Description:

The Wickenburg Area Floodplain Delineation Studies are being performed by the District in cooperation with the Town of Wickenburg. These studies will update approximately 6.2 miles of effective Special Flood Hazard Areas (SFHAs) of Turtleback Wash and Sol’s Wash Tributary 1N (a.k.a Mathie Wash). The Study extent for Turtleback Wash is from the confluence with the Hassayampa River to a point 4.8 miles upstream, and the study extent for the Sol’s Wash Tributary 1N is from the confluence with Sols Wash to the Maricopa/Yavapai County line. See document below.

The effective SFHA was mapped in the early 1990’s by Black and Veatch/Coe & Van Loo for the District. Since that time District has obtained new topographic mapping and improved rainfall data that will be applied during the update.

The study is now completed, and FEMA has approved the proposed Flood Insurance Rate Map (FIRM) changes. The updated FIRMs will become effective 3/17/17
