The Flood Control District of Maricopa County (District) is conducting the Upper Waterman Wash Detailed Floodplain Delineation Study Phase 1 to update the Waterman Wash floodplain southeast of the intersection of Patterson Road and Bullard Avenue. This revision is within Township 3 South and Range 1 West. The study will replace four linear miles of Effective Zone A floodplain with detailed Zone AE floodplain and floodway.
The study area is located in the City of Goodyear and unincorporated Maricopa County, Arizona.
Once the study is complete, impacted property owners will be invited to contact the District to review and discuss the results. The study results will then be submitted to the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) for review, approval, and incorporation onto the Flood Insurance Rate Maps (FIRMs) for the area. A study of this size typically takes approximately 9 months to a year for results to be integrated onto the FIRM. In the interim, the study information will be on the District’s floodplain map for floodplain management purposes.
The study is underway and is scheduled to be sent to FEMA for review Summer 2016.
