The Flood Control District of Maricopa County (District), in cooperation with the Town of Gilbert, is conducting the North Gilbert Hydrology Update to update the hydrology within the northern portion of the Town of Gilbert. This project will update the hydrology for approximately 20 square miles and will become the basis of a Letter of Map Revision along the Consolidated Canal between Guadalupe Road and the Union Pacific Railroad and along the Union Pacific Railroad between Gilbert Road and the Western Canal.
The study area is located within the Town of Gilbert in southeast Maricopa County and is generally bounded on the west and south by the Union Pacific Railroad and on the north by Guadalupe Road and the east by Lindsay Road.
Once the study is complete, impacted property owners will be notified and invited to a public meeting to review its results. The study results will then be submitted to the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) for review, approval and incorporation onto the Flood Insurance Rate Maps (FIRMs). It typically takes approximately 9 months to a year for FEMA to process a study of this size. In the interim, the study information will be used as “best available data” until the FIRMs are updated.
The study is complete and has been approved by FEMA on February 17, 2017
