The floodplain delineation study (FDS) for Ashbrook Wash and Cloudburst Wash is underway. Ashbrook Wash and Cloudburst Wash are located within the Town of Fountain Hills. The Town of Fountain Hills has requested a redelineation of the floodplain for Ashbrook Wash and a new floodplain delineation for Cloudburst Wash. The redelineation of Ashbrook Wash will be approximately 2.6 linear miles from Golden Eagle Park Dam downstream to the boundary of the Fort McDowell Yavapai Nation. The new floodplain delineation of Cloudburst Wash extends approximately 3.4 linear miles upstream from Golden Eagle Park Dam to just north of North Stone View Trail, parallel to Eagle Ridge Drive.
The purpose of the FDS is to improve floodplain information for floodplain management purposes for the Town of Fountain Hills.
The results will include detailed re-delineations of the existing Zone AE floodplain and floodway for Ashbrook Wash, and new detailed Zone AE floodplain and floodway delineations for Cloudburst Wash. The study will use new two-foot contour interval topographic mapping and updated hydrology. The study should be completed in the Fall of 2018 and then submitted to FEMA for review and approval.
