The Mandan Street Drainage Improvements project corridor is in the Ahwatukee Foothills area of Phoenix. The improvements include a drainage channel west of 17 flood prone residential lots, along the west side of Mandan Street, north and south of Kiowa Street. The backyards of the of the lots affront the South Mountain Park / Preserve of the City of Phoenix.
The Design Phase is complete. For the Construction Phase, awaiting decisions from FEMA (Federal Emergency Management Agency) regarding grant that would cover 75% of the construction cost.November 20, 2018 - The Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) is currently performing an Historical/Cultural/Environmental analysis for the project site. As part of that effort FEMA recently sent a letter to nearby property owners and other interested parties informing them of the proposed project and inquiring if they have any knowledge of cultural resources in the vicinity of the project. People that have knowledge of cultural resources or concerns about the project must contact FEMA within 30 days of receiving a letter. Details on how to provide information to FEMA are provided in the letter.
