The District conducted the Laveen Area Drainage Master/Plan Update (ADMP/U) to develop and evaluate solutions to mitigate flooding hazards in the Laveen Area. This project is one of the recommend solutions from the ADMP/U to reduce the impacts from flooding.
This project consists of the design and construction of a storm drain along Olney Avenue from west of 23rd Avenue to 27th Avenue, extending north along 27th Avenue to South Mountain Avenue. The storm drain will outfall into the existing City of Phoenix basin located at the northeast corner of 27th and South Mountain Avenues. The project also includes the design and construction of three retention basins along 23rd Avenue, south of Olney.
The District will be the lead agency for project design and the City of Phoenix is lead on project construction. The City will contribute 50% of the project’s costs. Portions of the project are located within the City of Phoenix and in unincorporated Maricopa County.
