The Rawhide Wash Flood Hazard Mitigation Project was identified as an important project in the Pinnacle Peak West Area Drainage Master Study. An alternatives analysis was completed in June 2016, and it was determined to go forward with the Conveyance alternative. The City of Phoenix and City of Scottsdale both submitted the Project for the 2018 CPPP and it was approved by the Flood Control Advisory Board on October 25th, 2017. The Project Resolution was approved by the Board of Directors on April 11, 2018. The Flood Mitigation Project will certify existing floodwalls and levies, make improvements as needed to certify existing walls and levees, and add new walls and levies along Rawhide Wash between Pinnacle Peak Road and Jomax Road, in order to capture and convey the 100-year flood.

Design for the project is beginning and is expected to finish in late 2019. Construction to begin in 2020, if funding is available.
