Numerous homes were flooded and streets washed out in the Town of Aguila during the August 1997 and October 2000 storms. The District initiated the Aguila Area Drainage Master Plan (ADMP) to identify the flooding threat and recommend possible solutions. The study was bounded by Yavapai County to the north, Effus Ranch Road to the east, the Vulture Mountains to the South, and La Paz County to the west.
The project included floodplain delineation and study of the existing floodplain, and recommended the buyout of floodprone properties.
The ADMP was completed in 2004.
