Project Description:
Study Area
The study area covers approximately 110 square miles located in southeast Maricopa County within the City of Mesa, Towns of Gilbert and Queen Creek, Pinal County, and unincorporated Maricopa County.
Study Overview
The QCEM ADMS/P U will identify and characterize existing drainage, flooding sources, and flooding hazards within the study area due to recent land use changes within the watershed. This includes three primary work efforts: data collection, development of a comprehensive, detailed, multi-frequency FLO-2D model for the study area, and a flood hazards and risks assessment. Major tasks will include compilation of the data collection results with the 2D model output to identify, quantify, and qualitatively describe significant drainage and flooding issues.
Other supporting tasks include supplemental field survey (as needed), public outreach, stakeholder coordination, and providing recommendations for structural and non-structural solutions to mitigate flood hazards and reduce flood risks. There is potential for the evaluation of past flood mitigation alternatives and/or new flood mitigation alternatives developed within the study area and the development of conceptual design (15% plans) and to update the Area Drainage Master Plan as necessary or proposal of new recommended Area Drainage Master Plan for the area.
