Project Description:
This project consists of the design and construction of new storm drain pipe with inlets and the construction of Sunrise Basin. The outlet for this system will be the existing Loop 202 freeway drainage basin. The project will provide 100-year flood protection to properties bounded on the west by 59th Avenue, on the south by Sunrise Drive, on the east by 47th Avenue and on the north by Dobbins Road.
The District conducted the Laveen Area Drainage Master Plan/Update (ADMP/U) to develop and evaluate alternative solutions to mitigate flooding hazards in the Laveen Area. This project is one of the recommended solutions from the study to reduce the impacts of flooding.
The District will be the lead agency for design and construction of the project, with the City of Phoenix contributing 50% of the project costs.
