Project Description:

The District, in cooperation with the Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS), has rehabilitated White Tanks Flood Retarding Structure No.3 in order to extend its useful life and maintain the flood control benefits for downstream properties. The modified structure will provide a minimum of 100-year flood protection.

The dam is located east of the White Tank Mountains near Bethany Home Road and Jackrabbit Trail and west of the Beardsley Canal. The Arizona Department of Water Resources (state regulatory agency) had determined that the dam did not meet certain state dam safety requirements. The modifications completed by the District brings the dam up to current state dam safety standards.
