Project Description:
The Sun Valley Area Drainage Master Plan (ADMP) developed the northern portion of the Buckeye/Sun Valley Area Drainage Master Study (ADMS), which is separated into four geographical areas. The Sun Valley ADMP encompasses Areas 3 and 4, covering approximately 183 square miles in the town of Buckeye and in unincorporated Maricopa County.
The watershed is generally bounded by Gates Road on the north, the White Tank Mountains on the east, Interstate 10 on the south and the Hassayampa River on the west. The two areas included in the Sun Valley ADMP are hydrologically similar but have separate outfalls: Area 3 outfalls into the Buckeye Flood Retarding Structures while Area 4 outfalls directly into the Hassayampa River.
The purpose of the Sun Valley ADMP was to develop alternatives to mitigate flooding hazards identified by the ADMS. This ADMP incorporated development plans for the area and jurisdictional drainage policies to develop a preferred solution.
