Project Type: Engineering/Design

Project Description:

The District conducted the Laveen Area Drainage Master Plan/Update (ADMP/U) to develop and evaluate alternative solutions to mitigate flooding hazards in the Laveen Area.  This project is one of the recommend solutions from the ADMP/U to reduce the impacts from flooding.

This project recommended constructing two detention basins for both the east wash (Highline Basin) and the northeast wash (Carver Basin). The basins will be built with a storage volume sufficient to hold the 10-year return frequency. Both basins will drain or ‘bleed off’ with a 30-inch diameter storm drain pipe. The storm drains from each basin would join at 45th Avenue and Estrella Drive and the combined flow would be conveyed in a 36” diameter storm drain pipe along Estrella Drive from 45th Avenue to the SR202L Freeway channel. As the project design is refined, these particular features may be modified or changed.

The project is located within unincorporated Maricopa County and the District will be the lead agency for the design and construction of the project.
