Project Description:

The McMicken Dam Project includes McMicken Dam (approximately 9.5 miles in length), the McMicken Dam Outlet Channel (approximately 6 miles in length) and the McMicken Dam Outlet Wash (approximately 4 miles in length) which discharges to the Agua Fria River.

The Wittmann Area Drainage Master Plan recommended that the McMicken Outlet Channel be rehabilitated, and the District has authorization to design and construct the improvements. The primary project goals are to design and reconstruct the Outlet Channel so as to mitigate current deficiencies, lower risk and meet District requirements for flood protection for the 100-year flood. The project will identify landscaping, aesthetics and multi-use opportunities within the project area that are compatible with the safe and proper function, operation and maintenance of the McMicken Dam Outlet Channel.  Future efforts may improve some locations of the McMicken Wash.
