Project Type: Engineering/Design

Project Description:

The Powerline flood retarding structure (FRS) and interim dam safety measure (IDSM) will be replaced by the upstream earthen flood control Powerline Channel, that is designed for the 100-year flood event, by directing flows from the channel to the Vineyard Road FRS flood pool. The necessity of the project is to provide ongoing flood protection for the downstream benefitted area and to reduce the risk of loss of life and property due to catastrophic dam failure. Action is required to address public safety concerns related to and bordering a flood control dam that does not meet existing safety and performance standards for a high hazard potential structure. Vineyard Road FRS rehabilitation will occur prior to construction of Powerline Channel. Th Powerline Channel project is currently at the final design stage. The Powerline Channel construction start date is unknown, however, it is after the Vineyard Road FRS Rehabilitation Project is completed.
