Project Description:

The project includes designing and constructing a storm drain system along Olney Avenue from west of 23rd Avenue to 27th Avenue and north along 27th Avenue to South Mountain Avenue. The project will outfall to the existing Basin located on the northeast corner of 27th Avenue and South Mountain Avenue. The project also includes designing and constructing three retention basins on 23rd Avenue north of Olney.

The design and construction of retention basins are complete. The design is complete for the storm drain system. The project is currently under construction.

South Mountain Avenue will be closed between 24th Avenue and 27th Avenue

Monday through Friday, 6AM to 5PM Tuesday, May 30 to Friday, June 16, 2023

TRAFFIC RESTRICTIONS

• South Mountain Avenue will be closed at 27th Avenue. Detour around the closure using 23rd Avenue, Baseline Road, and Dobbins Road.

• Access to residences will be maintained; however, temporary restrictions may occur during regular work hours.

Construction of the storm drain pipe began on Olney Avenue in February and will move north on 27th Avenue to Dobbins Road in March.

TRAFFIC RESTRICTIONS

• The contractor will maintain one lane in each direction on 27th Avenue.

• Access to residences and businesses will be maintained; however, temporary restrictions may occur during regular work hours. Crews will assist vehicles as they enter and exit side streets and driveways.

When passing by the crews operating heavy equipment; whether you are on foot, riding horseback, or in a vehicle, please slow down and watch for direction from the crew.

The design team is in the process to update the final plans to include new development activities within project area. The plans are expected to be ready for advertisements by April 2022.

23rd Avenue Basins Complete

Storm Drain Design Schedule Update

Design for the storm drain continues and is expected to be completed in August 2020. The District is the lead agency for both design and construction.

Construction will start upon completion of all utility relocation and right-of-way acquisitions.
